Terms of Use

Short, and in plain English.

Last updated 16 August 2026

These terms apply when you use RockyDoo. By using the app you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use it.

RockyDoo is published by Md Asif Kabir ("we", "us"), an individual developer. The app is distributed through Apple's App Store.

A grown-up agrees to these terms, not a child. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree on your behalf and is responsible for how the app is used.

What RockyDoo is for

RockyDoo identifies rocks, minerals, gems and fossils from a photo, and explains them for children. It is a toy and a learning aid.

It is not an expert

Identifications are produced by an AI model looking at a photograph. They are often right and sometimes wrong. The app tells you how confident it is, and you should treat that honestly.

Do not rely on RockyDoo for anything that matters. In particular, do not use it to decide whether something is:

  • valuable, genuine, or worth buying or selling
  • safe to handle, to heat, to grind, or to put in your mouth
  • free of asbestos, radioactivity, lead, arsenic or any other hazard

Some perfectly ordinary-looking minerals are genuinely dangerous. If it matters, ask a geologist.

Rock hunting safely

RockyDoo encourages children to go outside and look for rocks, which is the point. Supervising that is your job, not ours.

  • Small rocks are a choking hazard for small children.
  • Quarries, cliffs, railway cuttings, mine spoil and building sites are dangerous, and often illegal to enter.
  • Collecting is restricted or forbidden in many parks, reserves and protected sites, and on land you do not own. Check before you pocket.
  • Wash hands after handling rocks.

We are not responsible for what happens on a rock hunt.

Free scans, packs and subscriptions

RockyDoo gives you ten identifications to begin with, then one free every day. The daily one does not accumulate.

Scan packs

Scan packs are a one-off purchase. They do not expire, and they are not a subscription. They are consumed as they are used and are not refundable once used, except where the law requires otherwise.

RockyDoo Plus

RockyDoo Plus is an auto-renewing subscription, available monthly or yearly, granting up to 150 identifications a month.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
  • It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
  • You can manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end the period you have already paid for.
  • Both plans can be shared with your Family Sharing group.

Prices and refunds

Prices are set per country by the App Store and can change; a change never affects a period you have already paid for. All purchases and refunds are handled by Apple — request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.

To keep the service working for everyone, there is a generous per-device daily ceiling on identifications. Ordinary use will never reach it.

Fair use

Please don't:

  • try to get at our identification service other than through the app
  • reverse-engineer, decompile or tamper with the app, except where the law says you may
  • use the app to break the law, or to upload anything unlawful
  • resell the app or the identifications it produces as a service of your own

We may stop a device from using the service if it is being abused.

Your content

The photos your child takes belong to your family, not to us. They stay on your device — see the Privacy Policy — and we claim no rights over them. We only ask for the temporary permission needed to send a photo for identification and hand you back the answer.

Availability and changes

RockyDoo depends on services we don't control, and there may be times it doesn't work. We may change or discontinue features, and will try to give reasonable notice for anything significant. If we discontinue a paid feature you have already bought, we will say so and help you get an appropriate refund from Apple.

Liability

The app is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep every right your local law gives you, and nothing in these terms takes those away.

Apple

These terms are between you and us, not between you and Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without affecting any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.
